Panasonic - Which? awards 2007

Which? awards ‘the best of the best’ in products and services

In its fiftieth year, for the first time consumer watchdog Which? has presented awards to the very best products and services in the UK.

Panasonic scooped two awards, winning the Best Audio Visual Brand and a special Heritage Award for achieving the most Which? Best Buy recommendations since Which? magazine was first published in 1957.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the British Museum on the 27th June. Compered by broadcaster Fiona Bruce, there was a presentation from Richard Lambert, Director General of the CBI, and the Rt Hon Gordon Brown also provided a special recorded message of support for the event.

Said Which? on Panasonic’s achievement for winning the Best Audio-Visual Brand Award:

“In an ever-changing industry, Panasonic has managed to impress us consistently with its innovation and reliability."

“Panasonic achieved a massive 15 Best Buys this year, so if you’re looking to invest your hard-earned cash, you can’t really go wrong choosing Panasonic.”

Which? went on to comment on Panasonic receiving the Heritage Award:

“The Heritage award is the result of our search for an outstanding company that has achieved the most Best Buys since Which? began in 1957."

“Outshining its competitors with an impressive 222 Best Buys across a wide range of categories, Panasonic products have proved time and again to be high quality and to really stand the test of time.”

Spelling bee

How many different ways are there to spell Panasonic

We have been typing Panasonic a lot recently, while preparing and updating this website, and from time to time, the fingers get a little mixed up and jumble up the letters a bit.

Also, when we see other people's mistypes, we realise we are all the same, aren't we?

Here are some of ours and a few of yours, if you have any more to add to the list, let us know and we'll put them on.

The correct spelling of course is Panasonic
This was an invesnted name, comprising pan meaning all and sonic, meaning sound, , so Panasonic, if it means anything, means all sound, which was relevant at the time because the first product to carry the Panasonic brand name was a radio.

Some variations

Pansonic
Pannsonic
Panosonic
Panasonick
Panasonnic
Panasinic

and some pure jumbles, usually caused by hitting the next door letter on the keyboard

Oansonic
